India is officially in the full grip of monsoon. With widespread cloud cover and thunderstorms expected, all 28 states are expected to receive moderate to heavy rains over the next 10 days. The early arrival and rapid advance of the monsoon system has brought relief from the heat, but has also raised concerns of flooding, landslides and waterlogging in urban areas.
Here is the state-wise 10-day forecast:
🌄 North India
Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand
Moderate to heavy rain is expected, especially in the higher altitudes. Landslides and flash floods are possible in hilly districts.
Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh
Frequent rain and thundershowers are expected at some places. Yellow alert has been issued for major cities like Delhi and Lucknow.
Rajasthan
The eastern regions will see a good impact of the monsoon, while the western desert will see partly cloudy skies with occasional rain.
🌾 Central India
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh
Rainfall activity will continue daily. Afternoon showers may occur along with thunderstorms. Crop land will benefit, but drainage remains a concern.
Maharashtra
Konkan and Ghats (Pune, Satara, Ratnagiri) will receive intense rainfall. Mumbai is likely to receive continuous rain and mild flooding in low lying areas.
🌴 West India
Gujarat
Saurashtra and South Gujarat will receive continuous rain. Inland areas will receive scattered thunderstorms.
Goa
Intermittent heavy rains with rains are expected daily. Tourism activities may be disrupted.
🌞 South India
Kerala
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected daily. Local flooding may occur in coastal cities and hilly areas like Wayanad.
Karnataka
Bengaluru and coastal Karnataka are likely to receive moderate rains with lightning. Heavy rains may occur in Western Ghats.
Tamil Nadu
Rainfall will increase in northern Tamil Nadu. Chennai will experience light to moderate rain with high humidity.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Widespread rain forecast. Thunderstorms likely in Hyderabad and coastal cities. Farmers have been advised to exercise caution in flooded fields.
🌾 East and Northeast India
Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal
Intermittent rain with occasional heavy rains. Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi will face waterlogging problems.
Northeast States (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura)
Daily rain continues with landslide warnings in hilly areas. Heavy rain is likely in Guwahati and Shillong.
🌊 Island Areas
Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Thunderstorms likely with widespread rain. Sea conditions are rough – fishermen have been advised to exercise caution.
Lakshadweep
Stormy seas and persistent rain are likely on most days of the week. Island communities have been advised to remain vigilant.
